Day 12: Thursday, April 16

Matthew 4:12-17

Now when Jesus heard that John had been imprisoned, he went into Galilee. While in Galilee, he moved from Nazareth to make his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled:

“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way by the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—

the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.”

From that time Jesus began to preach this message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near!”

COMMENT & QUESTIONS

Jesus is described as one who has brought light to those who live in darkness. We who have received this light are called to share it with others.

What opportunities do you have today to share light with people in darkness?

Think about all of the people who you can contact today. People who you can reach through a phone call, an email, a text message, a card. Think about anyone who you work with, the neighbours in your street, the family who you live with.

Also think about people who have shone their light to help you. Think about how others may have helped you and how you can imitate their example.

PRAYERS

Thanks for the light that we have from Jesus Opportunities for Christians to shine light in a dark world
